Blanched Green Beans

Blanching green beans locks in their flavor and texture. Storing them this way makes preparing them later a snap!

Ingredients

Scale

1 package green beans

4 quarts water

Kosher Salt

Instructions

  1. Trim and rinse the green beans.
  2. Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot.
  3. Salt the water so that it tastes briny.
  4. Drop the beans in and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they are crisp tender.
  5. Remove the beans and place into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking.
  6. Drain well.
  7. Use immediately or place into a freezer bag and seal.
  8. Be sure to label and date if storing. 

Notes

For the best quality use the stored frozen beans in six to eight months.
