Eventide Epicurean Specialties! First let me begin by saying “WOW!” I’ve made a new discovery!
Eventide Epicurean Specialties is a Gourmand Dream located on Boothbay House Hill in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. It has a colorful, charming storefront which upon approaching draws you right in.
The unique collection of gourmet products from all over the state of Maine and around the world is almost endless. And the olive oils…
- Extra Virgin
- Fused
- Infused
- Specialty
…OH MY WORD!! There are so many different choices that I believe I might have to spend a week in Boothbay Harbor to try them all. (Hint to my husband – Any excuse to have to spend a week in Boothbay Harbor ๐ )
The flavors of these oils are OUT OF THIS WORLD! I never realized how many different varieties of olives there are and how the different regions that they are grown in can so greatly affect the taste. Some that I tried were complex with notes of fruit and a peppery finish. Others were robust and herbaceous with floral notes and a clean, crisp finish. I settled on a bottle of Extra-Virgin Cornicabra. Cornicabra olives are grown in Andalucia, Spain. They produce an oil that is dense and fruity. This is the perfect oil to accompany a warm slice of toasted artisan bread or drizzled over some fresh vegetables. Actually olive oil is the one pantry product that I just can’t do without. Seriously! I use it in and on everything!
Not only does Eventide have an endless variety of olive oil, but, they have quite a selection of Vinegar as well!!
- White Balsamic
- Dark Balsamic
- Specialty
- Wine Vinegar
I tried Raspberry, Blackberry-Ginger, Lavender, and Dark Chocolate finally choosing the Aged Espresso. It is complex and earthy with flavors of dark roasted coffee. Can’t wait to pair it with a beautiful pan-seared filet mignon steak! Can’t you just envision it?! (I’ll have to insert recipe here ๐ )
Once you’ve perused this section of Eventide you’ll want to peek around the corner into their Bakery area where you’ll find many more gourmet treats.
Fresh artisan cheeses – (check out the case!) So many choices!!
Wines, chocolates, preserves…the list goes on and on!
And the baked goods! Don’t even get me started!!
Hey, I’m originally from New York so I can honestly say “I know a few things about quality baked goods.” If Eventide was closer to where I live I’d be there at least once a week ๐
I spoke with one of the owners, Kim Martin, and she told me that the artisan breads are baked fresh daily. Oh how I dream about visiting there first thing in the morning as the breads are just finishing and coming warm-out-of-the-oven!
I guess I’ll just have to wait patiently until my next trip into Boothbay Harbor. Until then I’ll savor the exquisite olive oil and balsamic vinegar that I purchased at Eventide Epicurean Specialties.
If you are traveling along the coast of Maine and make it up to Boothbay Harbor be sure to stop in at Eventide Epicurean Specialties.
It’ll surely be a Tasty Adventure!!
